In December of 2002, I was playing football on my beloved Playstation and all of a sudden, I threw an interception. Out of frustration, I threw my controller down. When I bent down to get it, I couldn’t believe it.
I couldn’t see my own feet. I struggled as I bent over to reach for the controller. I was out of breath and embarrassed.
“How did this happen?”, I asked myself. Looking back, I certainly know exactly what happened. Years of inactivity and eating an average of 8,000 calories per day (and I’m only guessing) led me to balloon to XXXL shirts and 46” pants.
Fortunately, in January of 2003, I jumped on the New Year’s Bandwagon and never looked back. I’ve lost 105 lbs and have kept it off for years now. Unfortunately, many other people start a quest for losing fat, but they don’t finish.
That’s why I’m here.
I want YOU to finish what you started. Whether that’s losing 10 lbs or 100 lbs, you can do it – you just have to finish.
As a matter of fact, that’s the premise of my program, Workout Finishers.
I believe that we all stumble and fall, but I also believe you can get back up. You may have tried to lose those last 7 lbs several times before and failed. But you didn’t fail – you just realized another way that won’t work for you.
At the end of the day, it’s how you finish. That’s what the metabolic workout finisher is all about.
Alright, let’s explain what a workout finisher is, and then we’ll knock one out. A metabolic workout finisher is designed to be plugged in at the END of YOUR favorite workout.
That’s right – NO more cardio needed (even intervals).
They are metabolically demanding exercises (that’s just a cool way of saying they are exercises that burn a lot of calories) with very little rest.
My unique twist on them is this – I like to play with the set and rep scheme. We are talking 2 circuits, 4 circuits, one circuit with a lot of reps, countdown ladders… all kinds of good stuff.
Workout Finishers works wonders for:
- Increasing your cardiovascular fitness and conditioning
- Improving body composition due to the demand of the muscles and increasing fat loss
- Busting a plateau (honestly, I’ve seen metabolic finishers crush plateaus with my clients)
- You can do MORE in LESS time – finishers take just a fraction of the time that cardio takes, and you get BETTER and FASTER results
That sounds good, right? Alright, cool. Let’s do one:
This is the “Bodyweight High 5’s” Finisher taken from the Bodyweight Chaos Finishers Manual:
Do the following circuit 5 times, resting only when needed. Time yourself, and the next time you perform this finisher, try to beat your previous time. And needless to say, do this AFTER your main workout:
Prisoner Jump Squats (5)
Decline Pushups (5)
Burpees (5)
Now isn’t that just a metabolic of a good time (ha, I’m hilarious).
Metabolic Workout Finishers are tough and challenging, but they are addicting. Because of their short time, people stay more consistent, which means they lose that last 7 lbs or even jump start their fat loss program (with the right nutrition of course… sorry, no magic pill).
So, with that being said, I hope you reach your ultimate goal. And remember…
Finish Strong,
