I’m surprised to see the appearance of three different types of peppers on this list. A lot of the other stuff is self-explanatory, but just didn’t realize my love for spicy food could have some benefit!

As I’ve done a lot of research lately on food and nutrition, the science seems to support the minimal consumption of animal products. Most of the items in this are specifically from animals. What’s your take on this?

Hi Chell, First of all thanks for checking out MidwestFit! Most RD’s would agree that having meat/animal products (usually a lean meat or lean version of the source) is essential to a well-balanced diet, as there are certain types of protein that come from animal sources that you can not get from plant sources. Since we are not actually RD’s nor have we done research into this subject exclusively, we won’t speculate on how overall metabolism is affected in each individual case. The article does a pretty good job explaining each one though.
